The Virtual Challenge begins when Kirrily leaves Broken Hill at 7am AEST on Wednesday 30 August 2017 and finishes when she arrives at the Sydney Opera House at 10am AEST on Sunday 17 September 2017. (If you're competing in the Blackmores Sydney Running Festival on 17 September your distance on that day can also be included). That's 18 days and 3 hours for you and your amazing team to complete 1300 kms! Are you up for the Challenge?Read More
You and your teammates will support each other to complete 1300 kms over the 18 days and 3 hours of the Virtual Challenge. You can split this up within your team however you like, with some doing more and some less if that works for your team. The more people you have in your team, the less distance each team member needs to travel. Some teams will be only a few participants who push really hard, covering huge distances in remarkably short times. Others will be larger teams who will encourage each other to complete the daily distances and support them when the going gets tough. Within your teams you will set the expectations for each other.
As a guide, if you have 10 people in your team, each could do about 7-8 kms per day to achieve your goal. Or, with 5 people in your team, each could do 14-15 kms per day.Read More
You'll be happy to know that you don't need to be an Ultra Marathon runner to join a team. We want everyone to be involved as this is a great way to start conversations about family violence prevention and help to remove the stigma and barriers that prevent people asking for help.
Within your team you can choose to walk the distance if you prefer. If you're in a wheelchair you can roll the distance. It's up to you and your team to support each other.Read More
Teams can include up to 10 people of any age of any running or walking ability. Team members in a wheelchair can roll the distance. Your team members can be located anywhere in the world. The only criteria is they must be human. Dogs, cats or the family goat can run with you but their steps don't count toward the total.Read More
