Update - First Nations and CALD Adaptations

NAPCAN is currently working on adaptations of Love Bites for culturally inclusive settings, thanks to seed funding from previous Run Against Violence (RAV) grants, and a generous funding partnership with South West Sydney Local Health District (SWSLHD) Aboriginal Health.

NAPCAN's consultant Dr Brenda Dobia is leading the codesign process with First Nations people and culturally diverse communities in Western Sydney.

The initiative involves:

  • an overarching and explicit human rights framework that informs an understanding of power and intersectionality

  • informed by current evidence from research and practice

  • co-design and testing with local experts and young people from First Nations and culturally diverse communities

  • co-design and testing with young advocates of LGBTIQ communities.

Funding and community consultation partners to date have included:

Consultation partners: KARI Aboriginal Corporation, Tharawal Aboriginal Corporation DV Court Advocacy Service; Nabu Team from Macarthur Family Youth Services; NSW Department of Education; Bonnies and Reiby Juvenile Justice.
